Thresholds

Through the streets of some European cities, shots of doors some open some closed. Some with people waiting on the thresholds and some with a blanket of darkness inside.

Some of the photos of doors from recent trip to Athens and Lisbon.

Threshold

An art corner in the streets of Athens. Typically, I like to capture the colours of Renaissance and European heritage but Athens did made me go the Monochrome way.

Sunkissed

The narrow streets of Lisbon are so interesting place to capture photos. Part of the streets would light up under the harsh sun glowing the bright colours of the city while the other parts would remain in the shadows.

Canteen

I am sure that I have not succeeded but I was trying to emulate Fujifilm’s classic chrome recipe while editing this photo. I like the composition though – I find it fun to spot stories on doorsteps while walking through the streets.

Funk

I have posted this photo as part of another series but I keep coming back to it. It is fascinating how you see something different every time you see a photo, a different story every time. Last time, my focus was on the colours and how the local population which is largely immigrants, have tried to make this neighbourhood as their own in Lisbon. However, now I cannot stop looking at the stark contrast between the life the colours are injecting on outside walls and the darkness you see through the door.

  1. These are great photos They capture the life and energy of the place, as well as the doors and buildings. I think you chose well when to use monochrome and when to use color. I almost never think to do that.
