From the fish’s eye

Cathedral

I came about this lens in a YouTube video of one my new favourites content creator – Simon’s Utak. In the video, Simon reviewed this 7Artisans 4mm circular fish eye lens which looked fascinating to me. I am a newbie to photography and I am still learning about the technical aspects of photography, but this lens is not for the technical enthusiasts. This is a fun lens to make whacky photos and bend the creative needle – quite literally!

Once I got my hands on this lens, I wanted to take photos of interesting ceilings and try to emulate what Simon did in his video. A rainy day is perfect excuse to go into the cathedral to take some photos.

While Exeter cathedral does not have breathtaking artwork on ceiling, I quite liked what I was able to create with this lens. It has limited use but it does the job of creating interesting and bizarre photographs of the appropriate subject.

I cannot wait to use this lens when I travel to London next week and maybe try it out in Westminster Abbey.
